Statement on the Queen’s Death

Statement on the Death of Queen Elizabeth II – 8 September 2022

Like most of you across Vauxhall and beyond, I am profoundly sad to hear of the Queen’s passing. She dedicated her whole life to serving the country with utmost distinction, and has been a rare constant in our national life for the last 70 years.

Her quiet dignity and unwavering sense of duty throughout her reign serves as an example to us all. These qualities provided the country with much-needed reassurance and moral leadership throughout many crises, most recently in her powerful message of togetherness as the nation was plunged into the uncertainty of lockdown at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Queen Elizabeth II was not only our longest-serving monarch to date, she was also one of the most highly respected both at home and abroad. She will be missed immensely, and her place in history is assured.

On behalf of the community in Vauxhall, I want to wish her family and loved ones my deepest condolences as they and the country adjust to her loss.

Florence Eshalomi MP
Member of Parliament for Vauxhall
